Chapped Lips

The past seems present,

fresh in my mind.

It seemed like it was yesterday,

not four years ago.

When you hear a stereotypical joke,

you cover it as if your lips were chap.

When you hear another one,

your lips are chap again.

Not knowing to cry inside,

you cover your lips in more chapstick.

Everything happens for a reason,

but this is much deeper than you think.

Your lips crack,

you explode with fury and bleed w/ pain.

Knowing one day your lip will heal,

but the memory still there.

You hear another joke made at you,

this time your ok!

Wounds have healed,

no need to cover up.

Doubt and remorse is no longer present,

time is what you needed,

to heal your crack lip.

The pain will pass,

time is of the essence to let your wound heal!
